'A Good Day To Die Hard' Tops PH Box Office

"A Good Day To Die Hard" spiraled at the top of the local box-office with a total of P45.5 million on its opening weekend (February 13-17, 2013).

Bruce Willis and Jai Courtney in "A Good Day To Die Hard"
The fifth installment of the blockbuster "Die Hard" series, starring Bruce Willis, has shattered  local box office records making it the biggest opening weekend of all "Die Hard" movies and has now climbed up as this year’s biggest opening weekend for a Fox film so far, surpassing the highly-acclaimed "Life of Pi."

As evidenced by its opening weekend box-office, the fifth installment of the Die Hard series packed in a hefty volume of the movie going public who flocked into theaters to enjoy the wild and unbelievable action scenes with cars and choppers explosively flying all over the film’s new setting in Moscow.

Ayala Cinemas’ Trinoma theater recorded highest at P2.24 million that drove in 11,354 admissions over the movie’s opening weekend, followed by SM Mall of Asia at P1.98 million in receipts. Opening a much wider audience base is Courtney’s inclusion in the movie which also explains further influx of women apart from its core male audience in the following theaters that also made it to "A Good Day To Die Hard’s" top 20 cinemas on its opening weekend: Eastwood (P954, 123); Gateway Cineplex (P 846, 956); SM Clark (P 797, 838); Ayala Cebu (P762, 960); Robinson’s Ermita (P 757, 660); Theatremall (P 755, 162); Market!Market! James Bond Movie Joins $1 Billion Club

"Skyfall," the 23rd James Bond film, has officially eclipsed the $1 billion mark in worldwide gross box office receipts, becoming the 14th movie in history to attain such milestone.

James Bond completes $1 billion mission
Skyfall, which so far made $1.0002 billion globally, is the third film to join the billion dollar club this year after "The Avengers" and "The Dark Knight Rises." Also included in the elite group of films are the highest grossing movie of all time, "Avatar" and the box office hits "Titanic," "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2," "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King," "The Dark Knight Rises," "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," "Toy Story 3," "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace," and "Alice in Wonderland (2010)."

In addition to surpassing the $1 billion mark, "Skyfall," which features Daniel Craig's third performance as James Bond, is also the first film ever to gross £100 million ($160.9 million) at the U.K. box office. 24 Bloopers In Skyfall Spotted By Fans [Photos]

Eagle-eyed movie fans spotted 24 bloopers in the latest James Bond film, "Skyfall."

2 of the 24 Skyfall bloopers
Most of the errors listed were continuity-based but they also included factual slips.

Among the continuity gaffes fans noticed was Daniel Craig's black lace up shoes changing to slip-ons during a train fight at the beginning of the film. Other bloopers include the following:

"In the Istanbul chase scene at the start of the movie, Eve knocks out the windshield of the car she's driving, which comes out in more or less one solid piece. For the rest of the chase, about half the glass is suddenly back in the frame. Also, although she cracked the windshield all over to facilitate its removal, the leftover glass is later basically unbroken."

"In the scene in the National Gallery early on in the film where Bond meets Q, there is a line of bench seats. Bond is sitting on the end of one benches looking at a painting. The shot is from behind. Q comes and sits on the adjacent bench next to Bond. You can see the gap between the two benches between the pair. Then the shot changes to a front view as they start talking. But suddenly there is no gap in the bench in between them, they are both sitting on the same bench, the gap is now to Bond's left."

"When Bond confronts the assassin and lets him fall to his death from the building in Shanghai, he then looks over to the opposite window where Severine is standing in the smashed window hole, her hair blowing in the breeze. When it cuts to the closeup of her leaving you can see the light reflected in the window glass that has magically reappeared."

"In the opening scene on the train the coupling is shot away and the rear wagon separates, this ruptures the continuous brake pipe, which would cause both halves of the train to stop immediately."

"James Bond is seen driving down Whitehall in London. Behind him a number 38 bus is seen. However the 38 does not travel down or indeed particularly near Whitehall. This was probably done to show off the new Routemaster bus, which is currently only used on the 38 route."

The above and the rest of "Skyfall" bloopers were posted by members of the website called MovieMistakes.com, which lists errors, quotes, trivia, and plot holes in movies of all kinds. FULL STORY...

Liam Neeson Up Against Another Father's Hell-bent Revenge In 'Taken 2'

Liam Neeson as Bryan Mills
"Taken 2" braces for a down-to-the-wire action sequence between two fathers, one exacting revenge and the other trying to keep his family alive.

Liam Neeson reprises his role as Bryan Mills, a CIA operative with an unmatched set of skills who is pitted against Murad (Rade Sherbedgia) who in turn is hell-bent on taking down Mills and the rest of his family for the death of his son in Bryan’s hands.

"Taken 2" reunites Neeson with his co-stars Famke Janssen and Maggie Grace, who play Bryan's estranged wife and his precious daughter.

"Bryan's a total superhero," says Janssen, weighing in on what made audiences connect with the first film. "Taken really came at a time when people needed that in their lives, because it's about family and protecting your family. He's a very American hero."

As heard in "Taken 2’s" trailers, Murad’s line "He slaughtered our men, our brothers, our sons.  We will find him.  We will have our revenge," sets the tone for his role as the movie’s lead villain. Acclaimed character actor Rade Sherbedgia takes on the role, which director Olivier Megaton promises is "a far cry from your typical bad guy.  Murad is pursuing Bryan for a big and very fair reason, which is that he wants his justice for his son, who died at Bryan’s hand."

Unlike most movie villains, Murad desires neither power nor money, and he possesses no special training.

"Murad is not a criminal by profession," says Sherbedgia. "He is not a warrior. But he has made it his mission to extract justice from Bryan."

Megaton looked at a number of actors for the role, and selected Sherbedgia after the actor sent some trial footage he shot himself. “While watching Rade’s footage, I was suddenly dropped into the reality of Murad’s situation,” the director enthuses. “And Rade adds so much to the movie, because he's a father, too. Liam is a father protecting his daughter and Rade is a father avenging his son.”

Bryan’s encounters with Murad are memorable, and Neeson is particularly fond of his character's final battle with the Balkan baddie. “Bryan, at this stage of his journey, is genuinely sick of killing,” says Neeson. “He has physically become a machine when he gets into the mindset of taking out these bad guys. I think his big worry is that the machine may take over from the human being. For the sake of his daughter, his ex-wife and his own soul, he wants to stop.”

Rade Sherbedgia is one of Croatia's best known and most highly praised actors, with a career on screen spanning more than four decades.  HIs international breakthrough came in 1988, when he was cast by Menahem Golan to play a captain interrogating a woman who had saved thousands of children from the Holocaust in “Hanna's War.” He starred alongside Ellen Burstyn, Donald Pleasance and David Warner.

Forced to flee to Belgrade, Serbia after the dissolution of Yugoslavia, Sherbedgia performed in a number of Western European films before immigrating to the United States. Sherbedgia made an instant mark on Hollywood, starring in films such as “Mission: Impossible II,” “Eyes Wide Shut,” “Snatch,” “Shooter” and “Batman Begins.”

More recently, Sherbedgia played the role of Gregorovich, a renowned foreign wand-maker, in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.”  He had a key role in Angelina Jolie's debut feature as a director, “In the Land of Blood and Honey,” which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival in 2011.

"Taken 2" opens October 4 in more than 100 screens nationwide from 20th Century Fox thru Warner Bros. FULL STORY...
