An earthquake with a Richter Scale reading of magnitude 4.1 struck Bohol, Philippines on Friday morning, Phivolcs said.

According to Phivolcs, the temblor hit at 10:24am and centered at 40km northeast of Tagbilaran City. The tectonic quake was felt at Intensity III in Loboc and Cebu City, it added.

Phivolcs said it is not expecting major damage or aftershocks from the quake.

On October 15, a 7.2-magnitude earthquake jolted Bohol, killing more than 200 people. The quake was felt in the whole Visayas area and as far as Masbate island in the north and Cotabato provinces in southern Mindanao. In all, more than 73,000 structures were damaged, of which more than 14,500 were totally destroyed.

The Philippines is part of the "Ring of Fire," an area in the Pacific where volcanic activities often occur.
