Four teenagers were involved in a Sodus Bay boat crash in Wayne County, New York late Wednesday night.

Teen charged in Sodus boat crash
According to police officers, 19-year-old Tyler Ocwieja of Webster was behind the wheel when the accident happened. Allegedly intoxicated, Ocwieja steered the 20-foot boat into a breakwall at the entrance to Sodus Bay about 11:30 p.m.

One of the passengers, 18-year-old Liam Wheatley of Penfield sustained an ankle injury after he was thrown out of the boat over the break wall and into the water during the crash.

The two other teens on the boat, identified as 19-year-old Michael Dodge of Webster and 19-year-old Nicholas Pizicuto of Rochester, suffered minor lacerations after they were bounced around in the rear of the boat, deputies said.

Several different rescue crews arrived and assisted at the scene.

Ocwieja was charged with boating while intoxicated, operating at more than five miles per hour within 100 feet of shore, refusal to submit to a preliminary breath test,and reckless endangerment. He is set to face the charges in Sodus Town Court at a later date.
