The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced suspension of classes in preschool, elementary and high school on Friday, June 24, 2011 in Metro Manila. There will be no classes in both public and private schools in these levels tomorrow due to heavy rains and flash-floods brought about by Tropical Storm Falcon which has gained strength after merging with a Low Pressure Area.
The announcement was delivered by DepEd National Capital Region Director Elena Ruiz in an interview with dzMM on Thursday.
Colleges and universities are under the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and thus, they are not covered in this notice.
Quoting CHED Executive Director Julito Vitriolo, ABS-CBN Breaking News posted on Twitter that suspension of classes in tertiary levels is dependent on the heads of schools. College students are advised to contact their school directly to know whether they have classes or not.
Meanwhile, the Guidelines of suspension of classes are posted here: http://www.deped.gov.ph/e_posts.asp?id=475.
