Maxim played a joke on Manti Te'o by giving his fake ex-girlfriend a slot in its annual Hot 100 list.

Lennay Kekua, the non-existent ex-girlfriend of the Chargers linebacker, landed the no. 69 spot in the magazine's famous annual list of sexiest women all over the world.

"After Manti Te’o's fake girlfriend hoax of 2012, we think it might be nice to have an invisible girl of our own to love. Why not? She’s got a ton of great qualities, including looking awesome in a bikini," Maxim explains.

Maxim doesn't seem to be tired of crawling up his sleeves for just earlier this week, it organized a party in celebration of the Hot 100 list and invited Te'o to attend.

Surprisingly, Te'o doesn't seem to make a big deal out of it and came to the party with a smile on his face.

Maxim's editor-in-chief, Dan Bova thanked him for attending the said event and Te'o responded pleasantly with a smile saying, "Are you kidding me? This is great!" and reportedly had fun for the rest of the night. FULL STORY...

Ex-NBA Player Banned From PBA, Fined P250K

Ex-NBA player Renaldo Balkman has been banned from playing in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and has been asked to pay a fine of P250,000 ($6250), following his untoward behavior during a game last Friday.

Ex-NBA player banned from PBA, fined P250K

"For initiating threatening physical contact with a referee followed by a prolonged, offensive, belligerent if not aberrant on-court decorum directed toward game officials and his Petron team mates and superiors, including the head coach and assistant coaches, amounting to a blatant and utter disrespect for the game, his own ballclub, the League, the fans and his host country, import player Renaldo Balkman is hereby meted the following penalties: 1. Ban from playing in the Philippine BasketbAll Association; and 2. A fine of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Pesos (PhP250,000)," PBA Commissioner Atty. Angelico Salud said in a statement released Monday, March 11.

Salud added: "In arriving at this decision, I took into consideration Balkman's track record as a player, including the head-butting incident during a FIBA-Americas game between Puerto Rico and Venezuela and his altercation with the bench of the Alaska Aces during a pre-Season game in Cebu City. I also took into consideration Balkman's evident disregard for local and the host country's sensibilities highlighted by his choking act on-court in full public view of his own teammate who was trying to pacify him. Stiff as it maybe, this decision upholds the tenets of contextual accountability and the over-all interest of the League and the fans."

In the final minute of the game between the Petron Blaze Boosters and Alaska Aces on Friday night, Boosters import Balkman lost his temper when the referee did not call what for him was a foul. When his teammates tried to pacify him, he pushed them back and grabbed at one teammate's neck. Other players rushed to them to help control the situation.

The former New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets player had earlier apologized for Friday's incident, saying it was "unintentional" and that he just "got caught up in the moment of a very intense game." FULL STORY...

"I would like to apologize to the fans, Petron Blaze, my teammates, the PBA and especially @tubidronald71 (Ronald Tubid) and @Arwind029 (Arwind Santos)," the hoopster tweeted. "I got caught up in the moment of a very intense game.I respect @Arwind029 as a person & player. I am proud to be part of @PetronBlaze fam."

He added: "This was unintentional towards @arwindsotnas, I am a team player who always has the best interest of the team at heart."

Santos and Tubid were trying to calm Balkman down when he aggressively pleaded his case to a referee that he was fouled, just less than a minute before their team lost to Alaska Aces. But Balkman repeatedly pushed his teammates away and then grabbed at Santos' neck. Other players and coaches then rushed to them to help control the situation.

Balkman used to play in America's National Basketball Association before he was signed by the Petron Blaze Boosters of the Philippine Basketball Association in December for this year's Commissioner's Cup. He has also represented the Puerto Rico national team in international competition. FULL STORY...

Nonito Donaire Named '2012 Boxer Of The Year' By ESPN

Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire, Jr. has been named "2012 Boxer of the Year" by ESPN.

"Nonito Donaire won four fights against strong competition in 2012 -- sometimes in spectacular fashion -- and did so while proving himself clean in a sport rife with PED issues," ESPN wrote. "For that, he earns ESPN.com's boxer of the year award."

Donaire started his winning streak this year with a split decision win against Puerto Rican Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. in their WBO Super Bantamweight fight in February, becoming a 4-division title holder.

In July, the Filipino Flash won via unanimous decision against the then-reigning IBF Super Bantamweight champ Jeffery Mathebula of South Africa.

Donaire retained his WBO Super Bantamweight title after defeating Japanese boxer Toshiaki Nishioka in October. After being knocked down twice, Nishioka's corner personnel entered the ring as a request for the referee to end the fight in the ninth round.

Capping Donaire's glorious year, the 30-year-old Bohol native beat his Mexican foe, Jorge Arce, via a third round knockout in another WBO Super Bantamweight fight in December. Donaire floored Arce once in the second round, and once in the third round, before the knockout that ended the match.

The "ESPN Boxer of the Year" was awarded last year to American Andre Ward. Pound-for-pound king Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao was the recipient of the award in 2006, 2008 and 2009.

Emanuel Steward Dies? Death Reports Not True, Says Sister

Emanuel Steward has died Thursday, according to some reports which cited Steward's "friends."

Emanuel Steward Dies?

Contrary to the reports, a sibling of the legendary boxing trainer said he is not dead.

In a text message sent to WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) at 11:25am Thursday morning, Steward's sister Diane Steward-Jones said their family is "dismayed and greatly disheartened and disappointed" with the false reports.

"You can tell folks that he is alive and being treated by some of the best experts in the world.  The Steward family is dismayed and greatly disheartened and disappointed that during this personally challenging time, people would callously and thoughtlessly run wild with untrue statements in order to garner their '15 minutes of fame.' Where is the moral compass of those seeking to capitalize on this situation? Does anybody take the time to check out the facts anymore? Many of those issuing reckless statements have our phone numbers as well as Emanuel's office number and yet, they haven't called, just issued statements that are terrorizing Emanuel's children, siblings and relatives that aren't able to be here at the hospital. SHAME ON THEM!  He has feelings and we, his family, have feelings.  Consider that and give us our privacy to help our loved ones," she said.

Among the websites which reported Steward's death was TMZ, which has taken down its report.

Detroit Free Press, which also reported the boxing icon's death, has also deleted its earlier report and made a new one containing an interview with Steward-Jones.

"Emanuel is still with us," she told the Free Press Thursday afternoon. "He hasn't left his room. There is no shade over his head."

Steward, 68, underwent an operation recently for diverticulosis, a serious stomach ailment.

Steward trained a slew of champions, most notably Thomas Hearns, Lennox Lewis and Wladimir Klitschko, and was elected to the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1996. He also ran the legendary Kronk Gym in Detroit, and it consistently produced elite fighters for decades.

Update: Emanuel Steward has passed away, his sister confirmed later that day. FULL STORY...

Old Navy T-shirt Mistake Awards 1961 AFC Title To Houston Texans

An Old Navy T-shirt mistake proclaims the Houston Texans as AFC champions in 1961.
Old Navy T-shirt Mistake

It was the Houston Oilers who won the 1961 AFL Championships. Houston Texans was not existing yet that year and the AFC existed only after the AFL and NFL merged into one big NFL in 1970.

A spokesperson for Gap Inc., which owns Old Navy, told ESPN.com the shirts are made by a third-party sports licensing company and that the shirts are being removed.

As of Monday afternoon, the Texans shirt was still listed on the Old Navy website but was not available to be ordered.

Chron.com reports that Old Navy's NFL T-shirt line also has other mistakes. The Cleveland Browns shirt states the Browns won the 1964 AFC championships - the team won the NFL title that year.

Meanwhile, the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs shirts proclaim them as champions of 1968 and 1969 NFL seasons, respectively. Both won Super Bowls that year, but they did so as members of the AFL.

Last year, Old Navy had to pull off shelves thousands of T-shirts with college logos after the shirts had "Lets Go" on them, missing an apostrophe. Old Navy reprinted the shirts with the correct punctuation. FULL STORY...

Andy Roddick Retires From Tennis On 30th Birthday

Andy Roddick Retires
Former U.S. Open champion Andy Roddick called a press conference on his 30th birthday last Friday to announce his retirement from professional tennis.

"I’ll make this short and sweet: I’ve decided that this is going to be my last tournament," Roddick said. "I just feel like it’s time. I’ve always wanted to, in a perfect world, finish at this event."

Below are some excerpts from the tennis star's announcement:

"I have decided that this is going to be my last tournament. I don’t know if I’m healthy enough or committed enough to continue another year. I’ve always wanted to, in a perfect world, finish at this event. I have a lot of family and friends here. I’ve thought all year that I would know when I got to this tournament. When I was playing my first round, I knew.

"If I’m being honest, I would have bet against myself on getting through this without tears today. I must have already gotten them out earlier. This has been a huge part of my life always. But I don’t know that it’s always been my entire life. I do feel very confident in the things and the people that I have to fall back on.

"For 13, 14 years, I was invested fully, every day. I’ve seen a lot of people throughout that time be invested for a year, kind of tap out for a year, come back. I’ve been pretty good about keeping my nose to the grindstone.

"I feel like I won a lot of matches from hard work and persistence, even maybe when I had better options as far as shot-making.

I think I wanted an opportunity to say goodbye to people, as well. I don’t know how tomorrow’s going to go, and I hope it goes well, and I’m sticking around."

Roddick became a Grand Slam singles champion when he won the title at the 2003 US Open, defeating Juan Carlos Ferrero in the finals, which currently makes him the last North American male player to win a grand slam singles event. Roddick has reached four other Grand Slam finals (Wimbledon in 2004, 2005 and 2009, and the US Open in 2006), losing to Roger Federer every time.

In 2004, Roddick produced what was then the fastest serve in professional tennis: 249.4 km/h (155 mph) during a Davis Cup semi-final match with Vladimir Voltchkov on hard court in Charleston. Roddick's record serve has since been superseded by Ivo Karlović, who served at 251 km/h (156 mph) playing at the Davis Cup in March 2011. Roddick also had the fastest serve in U.S. Open history: 244 km/h (152 mph) against American Scoville Jenkins. Roddick also won the 2004 ESPY Award for Best Male Tennis Player.

That same year he won the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award of the Year because of his charity efforts, which included: raising money for the survivors of the tsunami following 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake through Serving for Tsunami Relief and other efforts; auctioning off several rackets and autographs to raise money for UNICEF; and creating the Andy Roddick Foundation to help at-risk youth. The foundation is partly funded through the sale of blue wristbands inscribed "No Compromise", inspired by Lance Armstrong's yellow Livestrong wristbands.

In 2007 Roddick and the Andy Roddick Foundation was awarded by the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health. Roddick was the first male tennis player ever to receive the award.

Roddick is married to Brooklyn Decker, a Sports Illustrated swimwear model and actress.
