Gary Ignacio, the former vocalist of  OPM rock band Alamid, died Friday, April 17, due to multiple organ failure. He was 49.

Alamid broke the sad news to their fans on their Facebook page saying, "In behalf of the Ignacio Family, we would like to announce that our brother, Gary "Alamid" Ignacio, passed away today at exactly 2.50pm at NKTI ICU 5 due to multiple organ failure."

The group added, "The wake will be at Sto Rosario Village Chapel, Brgy Baritan Malabon City."

It was only last year that Ignacio was diagnosed with an undisclosed life-threatening disease. In January this year, several Filipino artists held a concert to raise funds for the singer.

Alamid is known for their hit single "Your Love" which bagged the Song of the Year award at the NU107 Rock Awards in 1995. Their other popular songs include "Just Wasn't Brave Enough," "Still Believe in Love," "China Eyes" and "Sama-Sama." The band released a total of 5 studio albums and 4 compilation albums from 1994-2006.
