A 28-year-old father of a 6-year-old boy was arrested by police officers for allegedly chaining his son to a bed frame while he went to work.

Man Arrested For Allegedly Chaining 6-Year-Old Son
After receiving an anonymous tip via 911, police in Logan City, Utah went to the man's residence on Tuesday morning and found his 6-year-old son chained by his ankle to his bed.

Authorities said a heavy length of chain was padlocked around the bed on one end and the boy’s ankle on the other end. The chain was long enough to allow the child get make it to the restroom across the hall. He had been left some water and some “snack-type” junk food.

The child did not appear to be emaciated, nor were there obvious physical injuries, but he was still being evaluated and in the custody of child welfare services, police added.

The father has been booked into the Cache County Jail, where he is being held on four counts of child abuse, a class A misdemeanor. (To avoid identifying the child, we are not publishing the man's name.)

Police are investigating how often the child had been left alone or kept in those circumstances
