The nominees for the 2014 Oscar Awards have been announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in a pre-dawn ceremony in Beverly Hills, California on Thursday, January 16.

2014 Oscar Nominees Bared
Receiving the most number of nominations this year are David O. Russell's crime comedy-drama "American Hustle" and Alfonso Cuarón's 3D space spectacular "Gravity," which both snagged ten Oscar nods.

Historical drama "12 Years a Slave" was close behind with nine nominations, while Somali pirate drama "Captain Phillips," AIDS activist film "Dallas Buyers Club" and black and white road movie "Nebraska" were nominated in six categories.

Meanwhile, Martin Scorsese's biographical dark comedy "The Wolf of Wall Street" and Spike Jonze's futuristic comedy-drama "Her" each grabbed five nods.

The 2014 Oscar Awards will be held on March 2 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
