T-38 Crash: Two Pilots Suffer Minor Injuries In Aircraft Mishap

A T-38 crash left two pilots injured in Texas on Friday.

The aircraft mishap took place at approximately 6:48 am just south of Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita County.

Officials said the T-38 Talon carried two people on board, student pilot German 1st Lt. Julius Gressbach and instructor pilot Maj. Christopher Thompson, who were both ejected safely from their jet before it crashed to ground. The two pilots suffered minor injuries from the T-38 crash.

The aircraft reportedly went down at the edge of a heavily wooded area and burst into flames. 

"An investigation into the accident is underway. The public is asked to cooperate with military and civilian authorities at the scene," the US Air Force (USAF) said in a statement.

The Northrop T-38 Talon is a two-seat, twin-engine supersonic jet trainer. It was the world's first supersonic trainer and is also the most produced. In addition to training USAF pilots, the T-38 is used by NASA.
