Suspension of classes have been announced in some schools in Metro Manila due to anticipated rains on Wednesday, June 19, 2013.

Classes in kindergarten up to high school in the University of the East (UE), both in its Manila and Caloocan branches, as well as in Little Merry Hearts Montessori Center, have been canceled by their respective school administrators early Wednesday morning.

State weather bureau PAGASA said Luzon will experience cloudy skies with moderate to heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides today. Visayas, Zamboanga Peninzula, Northern Mindanao and CARAGA will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

It added that that moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail throughout the archipelago and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

At 4:00 am today, the center of Tropical Storm "Emong was estimated based on all available data at 420 km East of Basco, Batanes (20.3°N, 126.4°E) with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center.and gustiness of up to 90 kph, it said. The cyclone is forecast to move North at 19 kph.
