An earthquake jolted Luzon, Philippines on Wednesday night, June 19, 2013.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the magnitude 4.4 quake was tectonic in origin and centered at 40km northeast of Polillo Island, Quezon.

The temblor, which had a depth of focus of 5km, was felt in Quezon City, Makati City Taguig City, Muntinlupa City and other parts of Metro Manila; as well as in the province of Rizal, Laguna and Quezon.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties from the quake. Phivolcs said there is no tsunami threat.

The Philippine Archipelago lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where continental plates collide causing frequent quakes.
