One user said getting a job in Google's is as hard as the Hunger Games in Suzanne Collins' trilogy.
"The only way we can get a job from Google Philippines is if we do this Hunger Games style. And may the odds be ever in your favor :)))," @wesomesauceman tweeted.
During the launch, it was announced that there will be job openings in Google Philippines in the coming days. Job listings will be posted at http://www.google.com.ph/about/jobs/.
Google Philippines is the fifth office of the search giant in Southeast Asia.
"The Philippines is a key country in Southeast Asia in terms of its digital economy and tech-savvy population. This new office will allow us to better engage with our local users, partners and advertisers. Over 33 million Filipinos access the Internet regularly... [and this] is set to grow exponentially," said Julian Persaud, managing director of Google in Southeast Asia.
Google Philippines country manager Narciso Reyes said his office will be working on localizing Google's product for the Filpinos.
"User journey is tantamount to us... we will be localizing our products more and giving them more information and tools. We want Filipino users to find and access local information relevantly and very quickly," Reyes said. "Our local team will be committed to providing better services to our Filipino users and to helping businesses - large and small - grow locally and globally, contributing to the growth of the Philippine economy."
