Angeles City Mayor Edgardo "EdPam" Pamintuan took the 8th spot in the recently-released list of "Top 10 World Mayors of 2012.”

Angeles CIty Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan
The ranking was an initiative of the City Mayors Foundation as part of its World Mayor Project which aims to raise the profile of mayors from different countries and cities worldwide and to recognize their great contributions done to their respective cities and their dedication to the well-being of their cities.

In a 12-month period, the project invited over 463,000 people to nominate and vote for city mayors that fit the praise for top-notch governance. The nominated leaders must possess qualities such as social and economic awareness, good leadership and vision, sound management abilities, financial acumen, open and honest governance, environment awareness and conservation ideals, and the ability to fortify friendship and unity between different racial, cultural and social backgrounds.

A total of 912 mayors were nominated worldwide with the following occupying the Top 10 after they were ranked:
  1. Iñaki Azkuna, Bilbao, Spain
  2. Lisa Scaffidi, Perth, Australia
  3. Joko Widodo, Surakarta, Indonesia
  4. Regis Labeaume, Quebec City, Canada
  5. John F. Cook, El Paso, USA
  6. Park Wan-su, Changwon City, South Korea
  7. Len Brown, Auckland, New Zealand
  8. Edgardo Pamintuan, Angeles City, Philippines
  9. Mouhib Khatir, Zeralda, Algeria
  10. Alfonso Sanchez Garza, Matamoros, Mexico
Last year, Pamintuan was once again awarded the "Seal of Good Housekeeping" from the Department of Interior and Local Government. He received the award in 2011.

Angeles City, meanwhile, was the recipient of the "Gawad ng Pamana ng Lahi Award" and a plaque of recognition from the Local Governance Performance Management System Recognition for its outstanding performance under Pamintuan's administration.
