The "Worst Toy List 2012" was released recently by Massachusetts-based charitable non-profit corporation World Against Toys Causing Harm, Inc. (W.A.T.C.H.).

The annual list nominates ten representative toys with the potential to cause childhood injuries, or even death.

This year's "worst toy list" includes the following:

1. Magnetic Fishing Game (Manufactured/Distributed by Kole Imports): Potential for choking injuries.
2. Bongo Ball (Toys R Us, Inc.): Potential for impact and other serious injuries.
3. Dart Zone Quick Fire 12 Dart Gun (Prime Time Toys Ltd.): Potential for eye injuries.
4. Spinner Shark 4-Wheel Kneeboard (FuzionNextsport): POtential for impact injuries.
5. Explore And Learn Helicopter (V Tech): POtential for strangulation and entanglement injuries.
6. N-Force Vendetta Double Sword (Hasbro): Potential for impact injuries.
7. Water Baloon Launcher (Water Sports, LLC): Potential for choking and facial injuries.
8. Power Rangers Super Samurai Shogun Helmet (Bandai): Potential for impact and puncture wound injuries.
9. Playful Xylophone (P'Kolino): Potential for choking injuries.
10. The Avengers Gamma Green Smash Fists (Hasbro): Potential for blunt impact injuries.

W.A.T.C.H Director Attorney James Swartz stressed that "these particular toys are illustrative of some hazards in toys being sold to consumers, and should not be considered as the only potentially hazardous toys on the market."

  4. We used to throw rocks at eachother for fun now kids can choke on a xylophone? Kids must have gotten a whole lot dumber since my day.

  5. It's all nonsense or being over protective until some child is seriously injured or killed. That said, it a parents primary responsibility to ensure their child's safety. Toy manufactures are in business to sell toys- dangerous or otherwise - parental oversight is the first and last line of defense. If you're waiting for the government or toy makers to improve their standards, your children will need to be lucky or toyless.
