Barack Obama's victory photo, which shows him embracing his wife Michelle, has set records for the "most liked" and "most retweeted" in Facebook and Twitter history, respectively.

The photo, which was posted on the official accounts of Barack Obama in the social media sites as he announced his re-election as US president earlier today, has amassed more than 3.1 million Facebook likes and has been retweeted over 640,000 times on Twitter, as of posting time.

Among the most followed, both the accounts have been used by the American leader for his election efforts. In 2008, the Obama presidential campaign reportedly spent $643,000 out of $16 million Internet budget to promote his Facebook account.

President Obama's Facebook page has over 32 million likes while his Twitter account is being followed by more than 22 million users.
