The City of Chicago, Illinois claims Jennifer Fitzgerald owes $105,761.80 for nearly 700 parking violations issued to a 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo registered in her name, setting the city's record for the highest number of parking tickets as well as accruing the largest parking fine.

She said that her ex-boyfriend,who bought the car from her uncle for $600 in 2008, registered it in her name without her knowledge.

According to her, Brandon Preveau, her boyfriend, used the car after they broke up and later abandoned it at O'Hare Airport where he worked. Since then, the car racked up the record-breaking parking bill.

A spokesperson for the Department of Aviation said it is O'Hare's parking policy to remove a car after 30 days to an impound lot. But it was only on October 26th this year that the vehicle was impounded.

The 31-year-old single mom of one has filed a lawsuit against the city, her ex-boyfriend and United Airlines on November 2nd before the Cook County Circuit Court.

In the lawsuit, Fitzgerald says the city violated its own policy by not impounding the car three years ago and instead, continuing to ticket it over and over again.

The case comes to court next spring.

  1. Who cares if she is a single mom or not. That shows evenmore she should be ashamed of not taking care of her debt. Prob living off the state and now feels like she is entitled to sue any and everyone...the world today.
