A nursery school teacher was fined after she was caught with 19 kids in her hatchback in South Africa.

Teacher Crams 19 Kids In Hatchback
Melanie Minnie stuffed the children, aged 4-6, into her Renault Clio and drove them to a shopping mall burger bar for a field trip.

Minnie was pulled over by police officers a block away from the mall, after a tip-off from a concerned shopper who spotted her loading the children into her mini car at the Jacaranda shopping mall in Pretoria.

Cops were shocked to discover the 19 kids in the tiny hatchback --six were in the boot, three on the front seat and the remaining ten in the back.

According to reports, Minnie had already taken her class to the mall and was on her way back to the Rietfontein nursery school, about a mile away. She had also transported a first group of 12 children in her car when the police stopped her.

The teacher was fined R1,500 (about $170) for having more people in a car that it was designed to carry.

"This is the first time we went on an outing - and the last time," Minnie was quoted as saying by South Africa’s Afrikaans language Beeld newspaper.
