An 8-year-old boy, who won $1,000 from a scavenger hunt sponsored by a bank, decided to donate all his winnings to his 2-year-old neighbor, who is battling leukemia.
Boy Donates $1,000 To Sick Neighbor

Illinois third-grader Wyatt Erber joined the summer-long scavenger hunt sponsored by the First Clover Leaf Bank in Edwardsville, thinking that if he wins he would give the prize to his sick neighbor, Cara Kielty.

Together with his mom Noelle Erber, Wyatt looked up information on Facebook, answered questions on the bank's website and hunted on billboards and marquees for clues needed to complete the bank's "20 Reasons Why We Love Banking with First Clover Leaf" promotion. The two were the first to complete the clues and won the $1,000 prize.

Upon hearing about Wyatt’s generosity, a local charity organization, called the Edwardsville Neighbors in Need, matched his donations to Cara. A man in Canada, who heard about the third-grader's story, also sent a letter praising Wyatt, along with $100 for Cara's treatment.

Cara is diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the most common type of cancer among children which has a cure rate of about 90 percent.
