"She got roots that Nancy #sincity2," she tweeted, along with a photo of her new hairstyle.
The 31-year-old actress also shared to her 3.8 million followers on the popular micro-blogging site a photo of herself target shooting, which she said was part of her training for the upcoming movie.
"What a way to start the day -training for a movie is sorta fun," she said in a tweet posted Monday.
Alba will be reprising the role of Nancy Callahan, an exotic dancer working at Kadie's Bar.
The sequel will be titled "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" and set for October 4, 2013 3D release.
Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller are set to direct a script co-written by them and William Monahan and based on the second book in the Sin City series by Miller.
Other confirmed cast include Clive Owen, Mickey Ruorke, Rosario Dawson, Devon Aoki and Michael Madsen.
The original "Sin City" movie grossed over $160 million worldwide.
