Homeless Woman Off Ballot |
Barbara Bachmeier, seeking the Republican nomination for House District 13, owns a house in Anchorage and even has a career as a real estate agent. But 10 months ago,the army veteran lived in a camper shell on the back of her truck with her pets, technically not meeting the 12-month residency requirement to run.
The complaint to remove Bachmeier was filed by an Anchorage lawyer, Scott Kendall, on behalf of two Alaska voters, Scott Smestad of Anchorage and John Nelson of Soldotna.
Bachmeier said she believed the complaint was orchestrated by the other Republican seeking the seat, Gabrielle LeDoux, a non-practicing lawyer who herself moved into the district three years ago after serving two terms in the House from Kodiak.
Asked if she was involved, LeDoux replied, "I actually don't think that's a relevant question. I think the only important question is whether or not Barbara Bachmeier was constitutionally eligible to run in this district."

ReplyDeleteThis is just another form of prejudice against homeless people. It's makes being homeless a crime. If anything, this woman would have in-site
ReplyDeleteto what homeless people are challenged with on a daily basis, while holding down a job/career. She would make a positive impact as a leader in her community.
I say let the voter decide. Or what, now you make the decisions for the voters too. The opposing candidate is showing her true colors, she is using the law for her own personal under handed agenda. Well, what can you expect, LeDoe is a lawyer after all. The last thing we need another unethical politician. My goodness!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope the voters are able to see thru Le Doux and her cronies, above the law, unethical behavior
The former Homeless woman seems to have a better moral character, all the making of a great honest leader.
