TPC Sawgrass 17th Flooded (Youtube)
TPC Sawgrass' popular 17th hole has been flooded by Tropical Storm Debby.

After Debby dumped seven inches of rain on the Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, the iconic TPC Sawgrass 17th hole is now literally an island green.

"The rain has collected in the pond guarding the green on three sides and lining the right side of the fairway at the par-5 16th," wrote the Golf Channel. "The water level has risen over the walkway to the 17th green and nearly onto the green. Water from the pond lining the left side of the 18th hole has also crested into the fairway."

More rain is reportedly expected to fall through the week.

Known as the "Island Green," TPC Sawgrass' 17th hole is one of golf's most recognizable and difficult holes. The course has been featured for many years on the best-selling Tiger Woods PGA Tour golf game series.

Through the years the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass has showcased some great shots and memorable moments.  The most notable perhaps involved Steve Lowery in the 1998 Players Championship. His tee shot successfully landed on the green, but then a seagull swooped onto the green and picked up his ball several times. The gull found it difficult to hold the ball in its bill, but finally managed to carry it into the air and over the water, where it dropped it.
