American Idol finalist Erika Van Pelt
American Idol once again bade farewell to another contestant during today's results show.

Despite mentor Jimmy Iovine saying she "deserves to be in the top of the batch" with her version of Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind," disk jockey Erika Van Pelt went home after getting the lowest number of votes from the show's viewers. The judges also did not use their lone save vote for the season for the 26-year-old Rhode Islander.

Van Pelt has been in the bottom trio for three weeks in a row.

For this week, she was revealed to be among the bottom three vote-getters with 17-year-old student Deandre Brackensick of San Jose, Calif., and 22-year-old nonprofit organizer Heejun Han of New York.

The nine remaining American Idol finalists, including the "dark horse" Filipina-Mexican Jessica Sanchez, will return to the stage to perform for viewer votes next week (Thursday morning, Manila Time).
