The 15-year-old Marcial defeated Cengiz Onat of Turkey Saturday, winning Philippines' first gold medal in the event, which was first held in 2001.
The southpaw Marcial had previously defeated Armenia's Henrik Hovannisyan and Nasraddin Mammadov of Azerbaijan.
In the semifinal round, Marcial stopped Eduard Vaha of Belarus to arrange a final battle against Onat.
Three-time Olympian Romeo Brin serves as Marcial's coach.
Notes: Whew! There is still plenty of time to prepare for the 2016 Olympics. Please bring home the first Philippine Olympic Gold as well. :D
