Grimsvotn volcano, Iceland's most active volcano, had begun erupting, according to an Associated Press (AP) report. This comes just over a year after a volcano eruption in the island nation caused interruptions in European flights for days.
Scientists told AP that smoke is already coming out from the volcano and small earthquakes have been felt in the area. A "no fly zone" has also been implemented in the volcano's 220-kilometer radius.
The Iceland volcano last erupted 7 years ago. This anticipated eruption has been previously expected to be small and won't cause air travel shut down like last year when ash plume came out from Eyjafjallajokull volcano eruption.
