American television and film actor, James Joseph "Jim" Parsons is best known for playing Sheldon Cooper on the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory with his performance often cited as a significant reason for the program's success. He won the Television Critics Association Award for the Highest Individual Achievements in Comedy in August 2009. He also received the National Association of Broadcasters Television Chairman's Award for a significant break-through in one or more specific art discipline. On August 29, 2010, he won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on The Big Bang Theory.
According to an online article, Parsons was so thrilled with his Emmy win a few weeks ago that he dropped to his knees (wait for it) and proposed to his boyfriend, Todd Spiewak. He reportedly will be getting married in Massachusetts in December 2010.
