Super Typhoon Yolanda (International Name: Haiyan), said to be the strongest storm on Earth this year, has made a landfall over Guiuan, Eastern Samar on Friday morning. It is expected to batter more areas as it makes its way out of the Philippines.

PAGASA said that after the landfall, Super Typhoon Yolanda is forecast to traverse the provinces of Biliran, the Northern tip of Cebu, Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, Romblon, Semirara Island, the Southern part of Mindoro then Busuanga and will exit the Philippine landmass towards the West Philippine Sea on Saturday early morning. The tropical cyclone will be outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Saturday afternoon.

As of 11am, the eye of Super Typhoon Yolanda was last located at 15km West of Bantayan Island, Cebu (11.2°N, 123.6°E).
