Typhoon Santi has intensified further as it continues to move towards Aurora-Isabela area, the PAGASA said in its 11am bulletin on Friday, October 11, 2013.

The state weather bureau said the tropical cyclone was located at 240 km East of Baler, Aurora at 10am. Packing maximum sustained  winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph, Bagyong Santi is forecast to move West Northwest at 15 kph, it added.

Public Storm Warning Signals (PSWS) have been hoisted over the following areas:

PSWS #3 (Winds of >100 to 185 kph may be expected in at least 18 hours) : Aurora, Isabela, Quirino, Ifugao, Nueva Viscaya, Benguet, and Nueva Ecija.

PSWS #2 (Winds of >60 to 100 kph may be expected in at least 24 hours): La Union, Pangasinan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Cagayan, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mt. Province, Tarlac, Zambales, Bulacan, Pampanga, Northern Quezon, and Polilio Island.

PSWS #1 (30-60 kph winds may be expected in at least 36 hours): Metro Manila, Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands, Bataan, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Lubang Islands, Rest of Quezon, Marinduque, Camarines Provinces, Albay, and Catanduanes.

According to the PAGASA, Typhoon Santi will yield an estimated rainfall amount of 7.5 - 30.0 mm per hour (Heavy - Intense) within its 500-km diameter.

"Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signal #3, #2 and #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides," it said. "Likewise, those living in coastal areas under signal #3 and #2 are alerted against storm surges."

It further stated that sea travel is risky over the seaboard of Luzon and of Eastern Visayas.
