Marshall Mathers LP 2 will be released on November 5, 2013, Eminem announced through a Beats by Dre commercial which played during the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night.

The first single of the highly anticipated album, titled "Berzerk," is set to debut on Tuesday, August 27, along with its music video. Another track of the album, titled "Survival," had already premiered over a week ago in the trailer for the video game "Call of Duty: Ghosts."

Marshall Mathers LP 2 is the sequel to the previously released Marshall Mathers LP, which is Eminem's highest selling and most critically acclaimed album to date.

Released in 2002, Marshall Mathers LP sold more than 1.76 million copies in the US in the first week alone, becoming the fastest-selling studio album by any solo artist in American music history. In 2001, the album won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album and was nominated for Album of the Year. The album was certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America in 2011 for shipping 10 million copies in the United States.

The album has also been ranked as one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time by Rolling Stone, Time, and XXL. Rolling Stone placed the album at number 7 on its list of the best albums of the 2000s. The album was ranked number 244 by Rolling Stone on their list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. In 2010, Rhapsody ranked it number 1 on their "The 10 Best Albums by White Rappers" list.
