Phillipine TV network GMA-7 has received two nominations in this year's International Emmy Awards.

GMA-7 receives nods in 2013 International Emmy Awards
GMA’s "24 Oras" has been nominated in the News category for covering the disastrous event brought by Typhoon Pablo last year. The coverage displayed the intense loss and sufferings of the victims of the typhoon, according to organizers. Other TV networks that will also vie for the win in this category are UK’s Channel 4 News ("The Battle for Homs"),Brazil’s Jornal Nacional ("Collapse in Rio") and Romania’s ProTV News ("Romania Buried in Snow").

Meanwhile, the Kapuso documentary program "I-Witness" has also been put forward in the current affairs category for its reportage entitled "Alkansiya" done by Journalist Kara David. This documentary portrays a young boy of 12 years old who has underwent through hardships such as fishing, seashell collecting and diving for sea cucumber that is used for traditional Chinese medicines all for a meager income. Also competing in this category are UK’s Banaz ("An Honour Killing by Hardcash Productions"), Brazil’s Globo Reporter ("The Spirit-men") and Germany’s ZDFzoom ("The Fukushima Lie").

The awarding ceremony of 2013 International Emmys will be taking place on October 1, 2013 at the Frederick P. Rose Hall of Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York. The winners of the American news and documentary equivalents will also be announced during the event.
