Bagyong Gorio has made landfall over Hernani, Eastern Samar, PAGASA said Saturday.

In its 11 am bulletin, the state weather bureau said the eye of the tropical storm was estimated based on all available data at 30 km Southeast of Catbalogan, Samar (11.6°N, 125.1°E). Packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph, Gorio is forecast to move northwestward at 19kph, it added.

Public Storm Warning Signal has been hoisted over the following areas:

Signal No.2 (Winds of 61-100 kph is expected in at least 24 hrs): Masbate (including Ticao and Burias Islands), Sorsogon, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Marinduque, Quezon (including Polilio Island), Samar provinces, Leyte and Biliran

Signal No.1 (Winds of 45-60 kph is expected within the next 36 hours): Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Batangas, Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, Bataan, Bulacan, Zambales, Tarlac, La Union, Benguet, Ifugao, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Metro Manila, Southern Leyte, Capiz, Aklan Northeastern Iloilo and Northern Cebu (including Camotes and Bantayan Island).

Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under Public Storm Warning Signals are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas are alerted against big waves or storm surges generated by this tropical cyclone.

PAGASA said the weather disturbance will yield an estimated rainfall amount is from 5 – 15 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Storm.
