The stash was found by the US Air Force close to an overturned boat north of Wall Beach.

$1M in pot on beach
"Earlier this afternoon, our defenders discovered what appeared to be a large stash of illegal narcotics on our beach here at Vandenberg Air Force Base, just north of Wall Beach," Col. Nina Armagno, 30th Space Wing commander, told reporters in a press conference Thursday. "Also on the scene is an overturned aluminum boat and its engine looks like it has been removed."

Armagno added: "We immediately secured the scene and started searching the beaches and the local area. I ordered all facilities to be searched and secured. We are looking for any potential suspect... We have determined that there is no threat to the base and the local community... We're still investigating the situation that happened today."

Homeland Security Investigations have assumed control of the investigation. HSI removed the drugs as evidence and are in the process of developing a plan to remove the boat, fuel and outboard motor.

It was confirmed by investigators that the "large bags" contained marijuana with an estimated value of at least $1 million.
