Sulit.com.ph, the Philippines' number 1 classified ads website, was hacked Saturday, December 1, 2012.

Sulit.com.ph hacked
As of this posting, users are unable to access the site, which briefly showed the homepage of one of its competitors, AyosDito, and the title "ROOTCON.ORG We are anonymous. We are Legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget."

In an advisory posted on its Facebook page, Sulit said hackers made changes in its domain registry.

"Someone hacked through our account in our domain registry and changed the details of our domain Sulit.com.ph. Unfortunately, we do not have control over the security of our domain's registry," the statement reads. "Our team has already made the necessary changes and we're now waiting for the correct domain information to propagate globally."

RJ David, the site's co-founder, said "the issue was reminiscent of the November 2008 hacking of Dot.ph wherein our domain was intentionally parked to earn from the redirected traffic."

Sulit.com.ph is currently the most popular Filipino website in the Philippines, according to data from Alexa.com.

  3. We're going through an extensive security and will release updates as they become available.

In the meantime, we’re putting in place added measures that will allow domain owners to lock their accounts so that changes to domain records will NOT be allowed online, and changes will only be made once we receive written confirmation from the domain owner. If you own a domain and want to have this feature implemented, please email helpdesk@dotph or call 637-2104 to 05.

dotPH provides support after office hours and on weekends and holidays. On call are senior tech personnel who are able to deal with critical issues, which is why we were able to provide a quick fix within minutes of learning about the problem on Saturday. Our system sends alerts whenever a voicemail is received and we respond within 4-8 hours — in most cases much sooner. Unfortunately, this was the exception. We’ll be implementing ways to speed up our response time considerably.
