Before he was born, Joey Powling Jr. was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot, a rare congenital heart defect. His doctors then put up a treatment plan, which included an open-heart surgery 3 months after his birth.
The picture was taken last October 30th, five days after Joey's successful surgery at Boston Children's Hospital.
The baby's family is hoping that his photo will help raise awareness about the rare disease and the importance of pre-birth diagnosis.
"Ridiculously Good-looking Surgery Baby" is the latest addition to a series of internet memes which started when "Ridiculously Photogenic Guy" snapped as he ran down the streets of South Carolina during a 10km race.
Then there was the "Ridiculously Photogenic Surgery Girl," the "Ridiculously Photogenic Puppy," "Ridiculously Photogenic Cop" and the "Ridiculously Photogenic Homeless Guy."
