Scottish brewery Brewmeister has produced the world's strongest beer.

Called "Armageddon," the world's strongest beer has an alcohol by volume (ABV) of a whopping 65 percent.

"Despite being 65%, the beer has a lot of flavour - malty, hoppy, slightly sweet and lots of yeast still in the beer. Be careful though, smelling it is probably enough to put you over the limit!," the company wrote on its website.

Brewmeister's co-founder Lewis Shand said Armageddon should be treated like brandy, not swallowed in bucket-loads.

"We are certainly not encouraging anybody to drink it in pints," Shand told STV. "When it is sold, it will be in brandy-sized doses and that is how we recommend people try it when it comes on the market."

The beer, which costs £40.00 for a 330ml bottle, will be launched at the Inverness Beer Festival on November 3rd where it will be sold for £5 a nip.

According to the Guinness World Records, the strongest commercially available beer is Schorschbock 43 which is brewed by Schorschbräu, in Oberasbach, Germany, and has an alcohol volume of 43% as tested by Brau-Labor & Beratung laboratory services on April 22, 2010.
