Glee executive producer Ryan Murphy has confirmed the news about the American Idol runner-up joining the cast of the hit American musical series.

"Michael Ausiello broke news of Jessica Sanchez on Glee. With voices like Jessica, Lea, Naya, Melissa, Amber, and Jenna...Streisand episode?," Murphy posted on Twitter Tuesday.

Details about Sanchez's character are still under wraps but there are rumors saying she will be playing the role of a new love interest for Cory Monteith's character, Finn.

Also on Twitter, the 16-year-old Filipino-Mexican-American singer expressed her excitement to be part of the show.

"@GLEEonFOX @americanidol Very very excited :)!! Thank you for the opportunity!," Sanchez tweeted.

She also thanked Murphy and added that she can't wait to start working with him.

"@MrRPMurphy Thank you for everything Ryan! Can't wait to work with you!! :)," Sanchez tweeted," she said.

After the American Idol Tour, which had its final show in Manila last September 21st, Sanchez inked an endorsement deal with Philippine brands Bench, a clothing line, and Jollibee, a fast-food chain.

The young songstress is currently working on her debut album.
