Donna Summer Dead At 63
Donna Summer died on Thursday, May 17, after a battle with lung cancer. Summer was 63.

In a statement, Summer's family said, "While we grieve her passing, we are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy."

"Words truly can't express how much we appreciate your prayers and love for our family at this sensitive time," the statement reads.

Summer is survived by her husband Bruce Sudano and her children Brooklyn, Amanda and Mimi.

Born LaDonna Adrian Gaines and dubbed as the "Queen of Disco," Summer was known for her disco hits such as "Last Dance," "Hot Stuff," "Bad Girls" and "Love to Love You Baby." She won 5 Grammy awards throughout her career and was the first recording artist who had three consecutive double albums topping the US Billboard chart.
