Filipino-Mexican Jessica Sanchez was named one of the Top 13 finalists of the "American Idol" in an emotional elimination episode today.

The announcement sends the talented 16-year-old to the finals of the competition, where viewers will eventually choose the winner via online and phone voting.

Despite being sick this entire week, the Pinay-Mexicano teen singer brought out the diva in her and impressed the judges with her version of Jennifer Hudson's "Love You I Do" yesterday, which received the only standing ovation from the judges during the said episode.

"The punctuation that you put with your body on the ends of your phrases and your notes and everything… the way you pull back, the way you let us have it—the whole thing is just really, really so beyond your years, it’s crazy!" judge Jennifer Lopez said.

Last week, Sanchez did a soulful rendition of "The Prayer" during the Hollywood round which wowed the judges as well and earned good responses online.

During today's episode, the show aired the insights of Interscope Records chairman Jimmy Iovine regarding the performances of each of the 24 semi-finalists this week. Iovine said he would sign Sanchez on the spot.

"She has talent from A -Z. I would sign her on the spot tonight.. If anyone's in pole position, it's Jessica," the record producer proclaimed.

Sanchez, along with the rest of the Top 13, will be performing again next week. - NoypiStuff
