According to Sagit Horowitz, the safari zoo's spokesperson, it is their first successful Sand Cat birth. The kitten is hoped to be included in the Israel's Sand Cat Breeding Program in order to help reintroduce the species into the wild.

  1. This is wonderful news! We need to protect all wild cats as much as we can to prevent any of their extinctions. They are important predators in nature that help keep rodent and other animal populations from explosion.

I come to their defense and domestic cats defense as well in my new book, "In Defense of Cats" at http://www.indefenseofcats.com .
