Typhoon Ineng (Bagyong Ineng, Typhoon Ma-on) has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the PAGASA said Sunday.

According to the 11:30 a.m. PAGASA bulletin, the weather disturbance was last spotted at 1,240 kms East Northeast of Basco, Batanes, 11 a.m. on July 17, 2011. It has maximum winds of 185 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 220 kph. It is moving at 24 kph North Northwest.

Although Bagyong Ineng will not directly affect the country since it is heading to Okinawa, Japan, the PAGASA said the tropical cyclone will enhance southwest monsoon that will bring occasional rains in Visayas and Mindanao.
