Mitoy Yonting was hailed as the first-ever winner of  "The Voice of the Philippines" during the show's finale held at Resorts World Manila’s Newport Performing Arts Theater Sunday night, September 29.

Mitoy received 57.65% of the combined text and online votes to beat second placer, Klarisse de Guzman (42.35%) in their ultimate showdown.

In Sunday’s finale, Mitoy crooned the Beatles hit "Help" and performed with his coach Lea Salonga and comedian Vice Ganda in a comic take of "Total Eclipse of the Heart."

As the winner of "The Voice of the Philippines," the 43-year-old singer won P2 million, a home entertainment package, a new car, an Asian tour package for two, and a four-year recording contract with MCA Universal.
