Irvine, California fans were surprised and greatly amazed to see Bennington perform with Stone Temple Pilots for an eight-song gig at KROQ's Weenie Roast as the band's vocalist last Saturday night.

The members of STP confirmed that Bennington will replace Weiland on a long-term basis.

"Chester has a one-of-a-kind voice that we’ve admired for a long time," said STP guitarist Dean DeLeo. "We know Linkin Park will always be his priority, but we thought it would be cool to try something together."

To further confirm this unexpected twist, they have already started recording with Bennington and even released their new song, "Out of Time,"featuring the Linkin Park frontmant's vocals.

Speculations about what happens to Linkin Park after this are now hitting the waves but Bennington spoke out and cleared everything by saying that his bandmates were great friends and were all behind him over his project with STP. He also mentioned that he will still be with Linkin Park and that they are also currently working on new songs for their fans.

"I’ve loved STP since I was 13 years old and they’ve had a huge influence on me," explained Bennington. "When the opportunity came up to do something creative with them, I jumped at the chance.  The guys in Linkin Park have been incredibly supportive of me undertaking this project while I’ve continued to work on new music with LP."

Stone Temple Pilots' next appearance will be on May 30 at Club Nokia in Los Angeles.
