The power couple's friends who witnessed the engagement broke the news through their social media accounts.

Kapuso star Lovi Poe tagged Evangelista and Escudero in an Instagram video showing a fireworks display during the engagement, adding a note that says, "Now they're going to wake up, roll over to one side, and kiss the love of their life. Congratulations to my dear best friend and to the amazing man who will love her for the rest of her life!! Love is a celebration!"

Also on Instagram, actress Alessandra de Rosi posted a photo of the huge heart-shaped diamond engagement ring.

Meanwhile, celebrity make-up artist Albert Kurniawan uploaded an Instagram pic of the senator getting down on one knee as he plant the ring on the actress' digit.

Evangelista, 29, and Escudero, 44, have been together for almost two years.
