Certain packs of Nagaraya Cracker Nut are being recalled because its Aflatoxin content is above the allowable limits, the Philippines' Food and Drug Administration announced Monday.

The recall is limited to Nagaraya Cracker Nut Original Butter Flavor (160 grams) products with Lot No. 14019 and expiry date 01242015F. FDA said "no other Nagaraya variants and sizes are affected by the recall."

FDA advises those who have bought the product to contact the Sales Department of Food Industries, Inc. at 810-0141. For inquiries and other concerns, the public can send an email to info@fda.gov.ph.

"The public is hereby assured that the FDA conducts continuous monitoring and market surveillance of all peanut-based food products for the purpose of ensuring protection of public health," FDA added.

Aflatoxins are produced by a certain fungus and can cause an acute toxicological effect in humans. They naturally occurring and trace amounts are found in many foods.
