Consumer Reports has released its annual list of best car brands based on public's opinion.

Best Car Brands 2014
In December, Consumer Reports conducted its Car-Brand Perception Survey, a random, US-wide telephone survey, where it collected data from 1,578 car owners. The respondents were asked to rank seven aspects of a car buying decision: design and style, performance, quality, safety,y technology and innovation, value and, finall, fuel economy. They were then asked to name which brand was a leader for each of those aspects. The results were then used to calculate the overall favorite brand.

"While the scores reflect a brand’s image, they do not reflect the actual qualities of any brand’s vehicles," Consumer Reports said. "The key word here is “perception,” as influenced by word-of-mouth, marketing, and hands-on experience."

Check out below the list of car brands that scored the highest in the survey, as well as those that received the lowest scores.
