The former Miss International was with her 12-year-old son Adam Jr. and two friends when the vehicle they were riding "hit black ice and slid into a cement canal," according to Marquez' daughter Maxine Bumgardner.

Bumgardner said her mom and her mom's friends are now in stable condition, while her brother Adam suffered a few bruises only.

"Please pray for my mom, Arline, and nanay," Bumgardner posted on Facebook on Tuesday. "They were in a car accident a couple days ago and although they are stable and in better condition than before they will need your prayers, love and support. They hit black ice and slid into a cement canal.  My brother Adam was with them and walked out with only a couple bruises. We are all so lucky that they are still alive because things could've gone so much worst than it did."

Black ice is the term given to a thin layer of ice on the roadway. Because the layer of ice is transparent, allowing the color of the asphalt to show and gives the ice a black appearance, hence the term.

A few years ago, Marquez and her husband moved to the rural town of Annabella in Servier County, Utah, where they own a 200-acre ranch.
