Dechen Wangdu, wife of Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch, and "Paul's Botique," Beastie Boys' second album, have been widely searched online after it was reported by several news organizations that Yauch has died at age 47 on Friday after a 3-year battle against cancer.

Dechen Wangdu is the American-born daughter of prominent Tibetan activists. Like her parents, Wangdu is as well an active member of human rights organizations including the Students for a Free Tibet, the U.S. Tibet Committee, and the Tibetan Women's Association.

Wangdu and Yauch first met in 1995 in Harvard University, where the Dalai Lama gave a speech. They saw each other again, a few months later, a Students for a Free Tibet conference.

In a Rolling Stone interview, Yauch said he was struggling with life choices then.

"I was debating between the idea of being a celibate and becoming a monk or actually having family," he said. "I was deciding whether or not I wanted to try being in a serious relationship or just stay on my own...Dechen and I started spending some time together and hanging out, it just felt like it would be great to have a family. That would be the right thing to do."

In 1998, Wangdu and Yauch tied the knot  in New York in a traditional Tibetan wedding ceremony. Their daughter Tenzin Losel Yauch was born later that year.

"Paul's Botique," meanwhile, is Beastie Boys' second studio album which received a double platinum certification and did well on charts, proving that the group was not a one-hit wonder. The album was ranked number 156 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time released in 2003. In 2009, it was re-released in a 20th anniversary package featuring 24-bit remaster audio and a commentary track.
