To those who are asking whether there will be classes in preschool to college tomorrow, July 28, 2011, in Metro Manila and other areas, once again here are the guidelines on the suspension of classes from the Department of Education (DepEd):

Classes in pre-school level in all public and private schools will be automatically suspended with storm signal no.1.

Classes in pre-school, elementary and high school in all public and private schools will be automatically suspended with stoLinkrm signal no.2.

Classes in all levels are automatically suspended with storm signal no.3.

In the absence of typhoon signal warnings from PAG-ASA, localized suspension or cancellation of classes in both public and private elementary and secondary schools may be implemented by the school principal.

Likewise, the superintendent shall decide on the suspension of classes if such covers the entire division.

Parents wishing to ascertain whether or not to send their children to school should check for media advisories coming from PAG-ASA, DepED, Disaster Coordinating Council (DDC) and the Local Government Units (LGUs).

In the absence of official storm warnings, parents have the ultimate responsibility for determining whether their children should go to school.

The required number of school days for the school year shall be considered especially in holding make-up classes to offset the days when classes are suspended.

Make-up classes shall be held on Saturdays or on weekdays beyond the originally-set school calendar in both public and private schools.

  2. As the guidelines would tell you it would depend mainly on the storm signal hoisted over your area and to the decisions of your DepEd and other government officials.

  7. "How about those Universities not under an typhoon signals yet still flooded? college students aren't waterproof."

Based on the guidelines, classes in Colleges and Universities are automatically suspended once a storm signal 3 is raised over the area.

If there would be no typhoon signals but such conditions exist, I believe you need to contact your school for that.

I may not be able to update this post that early. So it would be better that you follow DepEd's official Twitter account for updates. Here's the link:

  11. parang late na yung announcement kung may pasok o wala. sana isipin din nila ang mga magulang at mga kasamang nag-aayos, mga driver ng school buses etc. na mas maaga pa naghahanda para sa pagpasok ng mga bata. hirap din mag-focus ang mga bata kung ang mindset ng mga bata ay 'walang pasok' pagnakikita nilang umuulan pa at may tubig pa sa labas o ang dadaanan mga lugar. hindi naman sapat na basehan lang yung pagtila ng ulan.

I just want to make it clear. Noypistuff.blogspot.com is not affiliated with DepEd. Please air your concern directly to DepEd. You can leave a message to them on Twitter (http://twitter.com/#!/DepEd_PH). However, they are flooded with tweets right now as a lot are asking about the suspension of classes. Message them some other time I guess.

Malayo pa po ang isang LPA and dadaan lang po to sa gilid ng Pinas according to Kuya Kim kanina sa TV Patrol.

Kung wala pong typhoon pero may situation po, your local DepEd and government officials po ang responsible for suspending classes.

It appears that announcements will be made at 4am tomorrow after the PAGASA determines the storm signals in affected areas.

I guess pwede naman siguro po kayo gumising ng maaga and makinig sa news. Afterwhich, you can wake your kids up kung may pasok based sa news or let them sleep longer kung walang pasok. :D

  35. this is annoying, Like what that guy up there said^^ instead of resting tomorrow because classes are suspended, we have to wait up and they're going to announce it when we are in school! what the heck! its like they're wasting our gas!

  42. pwede bang gawin ng 3am and announcement? for the sake of the people who travels 2hours to work??

  43. ITS 4 AM JULY 28 2011 THURSDAY. NO CLASSES IN METRO MANILA?

    ReplyDelete
  44. They don't have the guts to decide whether to suspend classes or not. They will always refer you to their "guidelines" in suspending classes based on storm signal. What they don't realize is that their so-called "guideline" is inadequate as it doesn't take into consideration the volume of rain, the possibility of flooding, etc. This all boils down to the fact that no one has the guts to decide to suspend classes or not, and just lay the blame on their "guideline." Para hindi sila masisi in case na mali ang guideline. Pasahan lang naman yan ng responsibilidad eh

    ReplyDelete
  45. plz suspend the classes on region 4a laguna.... here we have flooded areas and are deped nuts to think that we can assume to swim that flood for us to go to school? no way...........

  48. parang hinuhuli pa nila yung announcement. sayang din yung attention sa air time, kasi nga naman grabbed yung attention ng mga naghihintay. ano ba yan? ratings pa rin? san na yung public service! kailangan ba ng build up and then grand announcement ng news?!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I think nakalimutan na nila mag-announce. I'm listening to a radio station interviewing somebody from Pagasa and they are talking about updating our weather systems and past typhoons but nothing about suspension of classes.

    ReplyDelete
  50. WTF? saya naman nila para makalimutan yun...

    ReplyDelete
  51. you're right eugene. umali was supposed to announce it, but it was a text from rivera that is the source of the announcement. safe hugas kamay if ever today's gonna be raining hard...

    ReplyDelete
  53. may pasok po ba dito sa baguio city ?

    ReplyDelete
  54. what is up with DepEd??? Why do you guys just consider the signals? You guys count on them like they're safe for students. Even though we're in college, we're not freaking waterproof!!! You guys have to look at something here. Baguio City is raining so hard and the wind is strong too! People in DepEd should be smart.

  55. magulo ang PAG-ASA! nanghuhula eh! pina-PAASA lng tyu eh! ang bologs mo! khit mga kababayan mo sabi: ay wag ka maniwala sa PAG-asa, sa school ka nlng magtnong.... how fail you are PAG-ASA>.
