Ashton Kutcher revealed he was hospitalized after adopting Steve Jobs' fruitarian diet before he started filming the biopic "jOBS," which recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

Fruit-only diet sends Ashton Kutcher to hospital
Kutcher said he spent a couple of days in the hospital prior to shooting because of pancreas problems.

"First of all, the fruitarian diet can lead to like severe issues," Kutcher told USA Today. "I went to the hospital like two days before we started shooting the movie."

"I was like doubled over in pain. My pancreas levels were completely out of whack," he added. "It was really terrifying ... considering everything."

Jobs died of complications from pancreatic cancer in 2011, 8 years after he was diagnosed with the disease.

A subset of dietary veganism, fruitarianism involves the practice of following a diet that includes fruits, nuts and seeds, without animal products, vegetables and grains. Some fruitarians will eat only what falls (or would fall) naturally from a plant; that is: foods that can be harvested without killing or harming the plant.

Kutcher's movie, "jOBS," has been set for April 19 release date in the United States.

Directed by Joshua Michael Stern, the film tackles Steve Jobs' ascension from college dropout into one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of the 20th century.
