Earthquake in the Philippines September 4, 2012
An earthquake jolted the Philippines early Tuesday morning, September 4, 2012.

The 5.8-magnitude quake hit at around 3:44 a.m local time and centered at 40 km Southwest of Malaybalay, Bukidnon, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The temblor, which struck at a depth of 3 k.m., was tectonic in origin, Phivolcs added.

It was felt in Bukidnon, Cagayan de Oro, Kidapawan City and other areas in Mindanao.

Intensity V - Musuan, Maramag (Bukidnon)
Intensity IV - Valencia City (Bukidnon); Arakan, North Cotabato;
Intensity III - Malaybalay City (Bukidnon); Cagayan De Oro City, Misamis Oriental;
Kidapawan City
Intensity II - Butuan City; Cotabato City

Before this quake, Phivolcs recorded four other earthquakes on Tuesday, all of them had the same epicenter as the powerful 7.6-magnitude quake last Friday, August 31, 2012. Their readings were as follows:

Magnitude 3.9 - 12:00 a.m., Guiuan (Eastern Samar)
Magnitude 4.5 - 12:01 a.m., Guiuan (Eastern Samar)
Magnitude 3.4 - 12:33 a.m., Guiuan (Eastern Samar)
Magnitude 3.6 - 2:20 a.m., Guiuan (Eastern Samar)
